The Wood Badge Ticket
The purpose of the Wood Badge experience is to strengthen Scouting in
our units, our District and our Councils. The Wood Badge "ticket"
represents each Participants commitment to complete a set of personal
goals relating to that individual's Scouting position. These goals will
significantly strengthen the program in which the Participant is
involved.
In addition, the Ticket gives participants an opportunity to practice
and demonstrate a working knowledge of the leadership skills presented
during the course. Participants should complete their Wood Badge ticket
no later than 18 months after the course.
How Is the Course Structured?
Wood Badge training is divided into two parts - the Practical
Experience and the Application Period. Both parts must be completed
before the Wood Badge recognition is awarded.
The Practical Training Experience is three full days on each of two
weekends. Participants practice and enjoy Scouting. They are exposed to
the application of leadership and team building skills as they are
applied in the development of both adults and youth.
The Application Period consists of up to eighteen months after the
completion of the Practical Experience. During this time, participants
apply what they have learned and assesses their performance.
Each candidate is assigned a counselor to serve as a resource, a coach
and a Scouting friend during the Application Period. When the candidate
and counselor agree that the candidate fully understands what was
learned during the Practical Experience and can apply these lessons to
the betterment of the Scouting program, the counselor recommends award
of the Wood Badge recognition.
Recognition
Upon completion of the Wood Badge Ticket, as certified by a Ticket Counselor and the Participant, the Participant will be presented with the Wood Badge certificate, neckerchief, woggle and beads at the appropriate ceremony.
